AWARD
HISTORY
The
Claims
Person
of the
Year
Award
was
developed
by the
New
Jersey
Council
of NAIW
and
Crane’s
Fire and
Smoke
Cleaners
in 1991.
The
person
selected
as
Claims
Person
of the
Year
should
demonstrate
a
commitment
to
loyalty,
education
and
fellowship.
She
should
demonstrate
an
active
role in
NAIW, as
well as
being
involved
in other
areas
that
could
include
industry,
community,
charitable
or
religious
activities.
The
plaque
is
sponsored
by Allan
Industries.
NEW JERSEY INSURANCE PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR AWARD
HISTORY
The N.J. Insurance Professional/Woman of the Year Award
was
founded
in 1977
by
Philip
Feldinesser
of
Global
American
Insurance
Managers.
The
award
was
developed
in honor
of Ada
V. Doyle
and
Claire
M.
McCurry.
Each of
these
women
were
members
of the
local
NAIW
association
-Insurance
Women of
New
Jersey -
the
first
local
association
founded
in New
Jersey.
Ada Doyle was a charter member of the Insurance Women of
N.J.
when it
was
formed
in 1938.
In 1940,
she
represented
her
association
at a
Conference
in
Denver,
Colorado,
at which
time the
National
Association
of
Insurance
Women —
NAIW,
International
was
formed.
Ada
served
her
local
association
in many
capacities
and was
also the
first
National
Education
Chairman.
In 1942
she was
elected
the
National
President
of NAIW.
Claire
M.
McCurry
served
the
local
association
as well
as
having
been the
National
Corresponding
Secretary
from
1942-44.
In 1983 Global American Insurance Managers merged with
Specialty
Coverage
Concepts,
which
later
merged
with
Insurex
Inc.
This award is now sponsored by the Professional Insurance
Agents
of New
Jersey
and is
presented
annually
to
recognize
the
achievements
and
contributions
of a
N.J.
NAIW
member.
Each of the N.J. associations may nominate one member for
this
award.
The
candidate
must
have
been a
member
of NAIW
for at
least
five
years,
and have
not been
the
recipient
of this
award in
the past
five
years.
The individual selected should demonstrate a commitment
to
loyalty,
education,
and
fellowship.
She
should
demonstrate
an
active
role in
NAIW, as
well as,
involvement
in other
areas
that may
include
industry,
community,
charitable
or
religious
activities.
NEW JERSEY ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD HISTORY
In 2004 the State Director asked the Awards Chair why we
did not
have a
New
Jersey
Rookie
of the
Year
Award.
Simply
put, we
did not
have a
sponsor.
Enter
Leo
Hogan,
Chairman
and CEO
of
Cumberland
Insurance
Group.
The Rookie of the Year Award was developed by the New
Jersey
Council
of NAIW
and
Cumberland
Insurance
Group in
2004.
The
trophy
has been
referred
to as
the
“Stanley
Cup” of
the
State
awards
and is
passed
from
winner
to
winner
at the
annual
State
awards
luncheon.
The purpose of the award is to
recognize
the
accomplishments
of a new
member
who has
made a
significant
contribution
to NAIW
within
two
years of
joining
the
association.
The
active
pursuit
of
continuing
professional
education,
both
from
NAIW and
from
other
sources,
NAIW-related
activities
and
other
activities
that
show the
candidate’s
dedication
to NAIW
and the
insurance
industry
are all
considered
by the
judges.
The
trophy
and the
$300
scholarship
are
provided
by
Cumberland
Insurance
Group.
